Abstract

Many voices have expressed their opinion on the candidacy of Nayib Bukele as presidential candidate in El Salvador for the period 2024-2029, from the resolution issued by the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice in the process of Loss of Citizenship Rights 1-2021, until the president's own announcement on September 15, 2022, there have been sectors that have spoken in favor and a minority linked to the opposition with access to both national media and international has ruled against it.

The concept of re-election has entered into debate or if what will happen is the candidacy for a second term, this work is an academic effort that seeks to eliminate these doubts once and for all, with the help of comparative law where several Latin American constitutions are reviewed, up to a review of the Salvadoran Constitution itself and the resolution issued by the country's highest constitutional court.
