The article presents the results obtained in the research carried out to determine the importance of the geographical records generated in the National Geographic and Cadastre Institute of the National Records Center (CNR) for the security and national development of El Salvador. Geographic records provide accurate information that can be used to make informed decisions that protect the population and promote the development of the country. These also allow the design of land use maps, evaluating the economic potential for decision making and investment. The products of these geographical records are used by various institutions and actors in charge of decision-making in territorial management and administration, therefore, said information or records must be updated, accurate and reliable to represent the best possible way. territory, so that the decisions made are the most appropriate.
